Manual Lymphatic Drainage(MLD)
Manual lymphatic drainage is a very gentle, powerful, relaxing and soothing massage which works with your lymphatic system to encourage the bodys natural healing abilities.
This treatment is a very gentle massage, the aim is to encourage the flow of lymphatic fluid. The lymphatic system doesn't have a pump as the circulatory system has the heart to push blood around the body, so it relies on the movement of muscles to push lymph around.
If you have a sedentary job, don't exercise regularly or have recently had an operation you may find that your lymphatic system is not working very well.
When your lymphatic system doesn't work properly you may find that you are prone to colds or infections, you may have cellulite, puffiness under the skin or water retention.
As the lymphatic system is just beneath the skin I would suggest that when you come for your treatment you do not wear tight clothing, this restricts the flow of lymph around the body after the treatment. To get the best possible results from the treatment I would suggest that you drinks lots of water to flush out any toxins and wear loose clothing to encourage the flow of lymphatic fluid around the body.
You'll find manual lymphatic drainage a very relaxing and beneficial treatment.
Clients often fall asleep during a treatment as its so relaxing.
If this is your first manual lymphatic drainage massage treament I would recommend that your initial treatment is 60 minutes long, this will include time for a full initial consultation, time for you to ask any questions and the treatment.
If you have had MLD before and would like to book a 60 minute treatment just let me know.
A course of at least 6 treatments are sometimes recommended for maximum benefit.
